We will review the pathophysiology of anemia of renal disease and its treatments in cats and dogs.

Nephroliths and Ureteroliths That Come Back and Back and…
We will talk about the pathophysiology and treatments including newer interventional medicine procedures to deal with nephroliths and ureteroliths.

Session III — 8:30 am

Reflux Mediated Disease
This lecture will emphasize the pathophysiology of reflux, the potential signs and manifestations with animals. Additionally, diagnostic testing and clinical management will be discussed. The lecture will also highlight other acid responsive disorders and similar clinical disorders.

Pathophysiology of Chronic Enteropathies/IBD
This lecture will highlight important pathophysiologic mechanisms of disease in inflammatory bowel disease of animals. Additionally, it will highlight key pathogenic mechanisms and our findings in people with inflammatory disease. This lecture will serve as a basis for understanding potential emerging therapeutic and/or diagnostic tests.

Dietary Management of GI Disease
This lecture will highlight the key impacts of dietary manipulation of gastrointestinal function. Different dietary therapeutic trials will be discussed including traditional and nontraditional methods. Specific conditions will be highlighted.

Session IV — Begins at 1:00 pm

Work Up of Gastrointestinal Cases:
New Tests and Biopsy Interpretation

This lecture will emphasize current and emerging diagnostic tests. Relevant pathophysiology and interpretation will be discussed.

Case Studies and Gastrointestinal Disease
We will use case examples to highlight common clinical conditions, presentations, diagnostic testing, common misconceptions and therapeutic interventions within the field of gastroenterology/hepatology.
