Lisa Pohlman, DVM, MS, DACVP

Dr. Pohlman received her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada in 2001. After 3 years of small-animal general practice in Ottawa, Canada, she attended Auburn University to pursue a residency and Master’s degree in Clinical Pathology. In 2007 she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and joined the faculty at the Kansas State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, where she has been the Director of Clinical Pathology since 2010. Dr. Pohlman is also an active teacher and mentor of veterinary students, interns, residents and graduate students and enjoys providing continuing education in clinical pathology to general practitioners through speaking engagements, online courses and publications. Her research interests include identification and characterization of disease in domestic species and improvement of clinical pathology laboratory methods. Outside her position at KSU, Dr. Pohlman is very involved with community service and is currently serving as President and Medical Director of the Riley County Humane Society.

Julia Ryseff, DVM, MS, DACVP

Dr. Ryseff received her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 2009. She completed a combined clinical pathology residency and MS program at Colorado State University where her Master’s work focused on hematology instrumentation and advancing its role in the prediction of various disease states. She stayed on at CSU in the role of clinical instructor before becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (Clinical Pathology) in 2013. She then joined Kansas State University, again, in the role of clinical instructor, where she engaged in a variety of projects, including the construction of de novo reference intervals for a wide variety of analyzers and assays in the laboratory. She has had several pathology publications in a multitude of journals. Her interests are in the field of laboratory medicine, cytochemical and immunocytochemical staining and diagnostic cytology. She currently works as a diagnostic clinical pathologist for Idexx Reference Laboratories in their Glen Burnie, MD location.
